Do you vacuum or shampoo your carpet on a regular basis, but find it impossible to keep it looking clean?
Ann Arbor Carpets Bedford Mills

Have those ground in stains forced you to move your furniture around and add area rugs to cover them up?

We can help!

Ann Arbor Carpets – Flooring America has a comprehensive guide for stain removal Ann Arbor

We share tips to remove blood stains, chocolate stains, wine stains, butter stains, pet stains, and more!  If you have a stain that’s not on the list, it doesn’t mean we can’t help.  Give us a call or stop by!

Here’s one important tip:

Did you know that you should never scrub a stain?

When you scrub a stain, it will spread the stain out further and potentially damage the carpet fibers.  If you scrub too hard, you will likely push the stain into the carpet pad.  The stain may temporarily disappear, only to reappear later.  So, the key is to gently blot the stain with a clean, white cloth.

Your Recycled Carpet Could Be Reincarnated Into a Park Bench Thanks to Ann Arbor Carpets and Michigan Carpet Delivery!

Are you looking to change your old carpet?

Want new carpet or another type of flooring?

If you are, you may be dreading the thought of removing your carpet and taking it to the landfill!
We sure don’t blame you … not only is it a difficult, dirty job, but it may be bad for the environment!

Can you believe that 4-6% of all waste in landfills is carpet and carpet padding?

More carpet in landfills increases the probability that chemicals from the carpet and carpet padding will leak into the watershed. Most carpet contains the chemical polyprophylene, which could contaminate ground water.

What you might NOT know is that 60% of carpet is recyclable! Clearly, many homeowners and businesses don’t make the effort to recycle it.

Let Ann Arbor Carpets – Flooring America help you! We’re committed to sustainability and are a voluntary participant in the CLEAR Carpet Recycling Program with the company Michigan Carpet Delivery.

CLEAR stands for:

 Carpet      Landfill      Elimination      And      Recycling

Recycled carpet and carpet pads are made into park benches, car parts, sound barriers, picnic tables, erosion control, parking stops, new carpet, new carpet pads, and other consumer products. Below are two examples of how your carpet could be “reincarnated”:

The Great Smokey Mountains National Park uses GeoHay – which is comprised of recycled carpet fibers – for erosion control. The GeoHay prevents unwanted sediment from entering the park’s waterways, and provides stability for vegetation to take root and grow, instead of being washed away. The GeoHay looks similar to traditional hay bales, but does not fall apart, decompose, or threaten non-native plant species.

Ford Motor Company has a commitment to reducing their environmental footprint by using recycled nylon carpet. The nylon fibers are melted and injection-molded into cylinder head covers. In 2010, they saved 4.1 million pounds of carpet from landfills which amounted to 985,000 yards of recycled carpet. The use of this material eliminated the consumption of more than 430,000 gallons of oil.

Recycling carpet also creates jobs, through the creation of businesses that have as their sole mission the job of recycling carpet to keep it from going into landfills. This is good news for many who have been challenged by the country’s struggling job market.

So if recycling carpet creates jobs, reduces landfill waste, and decreases our dependence on foreign oil, it seems like a no-brainer! Unfortunately, according to the Carpet America Recovery Effort, about 5 billion pounds of carpet ends up going to landfills each year. Typically, only 9 percent of the 5 billion pounds is recycled.

Ann Arbor Carpets- Flooring America makes the choice to recycle your carpet easy for you. When you purchase new flooring, Michigan Carpet Delivery will take your discarded carpet to a recycling center. Stop by our showroom to see the wide variety of flooring available. We have over 45 years of experience delivering quality products and services to our customers. By choosing Ann Arbor Carpets – Flooring America, you will add beautiful flooring to your home or business and keep your old carpet out of the landfill.

Who knows?  Maybe that next park bench you sit on could be from your old carpet!
