What New Carpet is Right for Me?

Ann Arbor Carpets | New Flooring Ann Arbor | New Carpet Ann ArborAre you looking for new carpet, but not sure what you want?

Are you checking the pros and cons of each before you buy?

Look no further!

Choosing the type of carpet you want for your home is a major decision. A good carpet can last for decades, and you should be sure about your choice. Carpet comes in a variety of materials, and the material you choose can greatly affect the longevity of your carpet and the look of your home. There are many various materials, but the three most notable ones are Nylon, Wool, and Polyester.

Nylon Carpet

Nylon is by far the most popular option available for carpeting. It is a good all around, and has powerful stain repelling abilities, along with resistance to being pushed down from foot traffic, so you know that your carpet will be around for a long time.

Wool Carpet

Wool is a favorite for people who prefer to “go green.” The all natural elements, along with the softness and durability, are a great combination. It should be noted that wool carpets are a bit higher maintenance than other kinds of carpet. In order to look its best, wool carpet must be professionally cleaned, so wool may not be the choice if you are hoping for a low maintenance floor.

Despite this, wool is still the most popular all natural carpet material, and has a great look and feel. Check out our Just Shorn New Zealand wool carpet here!

Polyester Carpet

Polyester, similar to Nylon, is another great all around choice for your home. It has all the stain resistant qualities of Nylon, with close to the eco-friendliness of Wool, and a relatively low cost as well. It allows for vibrant color, and is a favorite amongst homeowners due to the similarities to Nylon and the great all around quality it has.

Each material has its pros and cons, and every homeowner’s situation is different enough to warrant a look into which carpet suits them best.
